Music festival on both sides of the Oder

The German-Polish Music Festival, which originally only took place in Frankfurt (Oder) and was later extended to both sides of the Oder, has existed for 50 years.
On February 27th in Zielona Gora it starts with the opening concert: Jan Sebastian Bach: Cello Suite and Krzysztof Penderecki: Concerto grosso for three cellos and orchestra. From February 27 to March 8, 2015 there will be a total of 22 concerts and events under the motto "Cellissimo" in Frankfurt (Oder), Neuzelle, Berlin and Müncheberg on the German side and in Zielona Gora, Nowa Sol, Sulechow, Zary and Rzepin the Polish side.
On Saturday, February 28th, children dance "Hänsel & Gretel" in Frankfurt's Kleistforum. The enthusiasm of the little dancers is as lively and fresh as the great message conveyed by the fairy tale: "The will to never give up leads to the goal and to the happy ending of the story".
According to the program, a world premiere by the contemporary composer Siegfried Matthus with a cappella literature from five centuries is planned for March 1 in Frankfurt (Oder).
On March 5, the concert "KLANG-RÄUME" by Ditta Rohmann, violoncello László Fassang, (organ and harpsichord) will take place in the chamber music hall with historical Sauer organ OP. 107 (1866), which were built by the Frankfurt organ builder Wilhelm Sauer.

The music festival is the most traditional and therefore the most important music festival in East Brandenburg. It is an art experience that offers an opportunity for international encounters. It is a true “testimony of a cultural identity of the European region on both sides of the Oder that radiates to both East and West” – a "testimony of the European idea".

More than 6000 visitors came to the concert halls last year and this year the organizers are hoping for even more guests interested in music.
In this special anniversary year, the patronage of the music festival is taken over by the Prime Minister of Brandenburg, Dr. Dietmar Woidke, the Minister of Culture of Poland Małgorzata Omilanowska and Elżbieta Polak - Marszałek Województwa Lubuskiego.
